An introduction of our Board of Directors

Narayana Swamy Sankagiri, President HCRC

Narayanaswamy (Nasy) Sankagiri was born and raised in a traditional and scholarly Hindu family in South India, and immigrated to the US in pursuit of graduate study in Mechanical Engineering. After his Ph.D., Nasy has been working in the automotive industry for the past thirty years. Nasy continues to volunteer at the Bharatiya Temple of Metro-Detroit (located in Troy, MI) as the Chair of Outreach Committee and Editor of Temple Quarterly Magazine, representing Hindu thought and viewpoint at area Interfaith events and other social events.
Deeply interested in the philosophical and spiritual teachings of Hinduism,  Nasy is constantly to exploring new avenues to share the pluralistic and inclusive experience of Hinduism that he has grown up with. Nasy is an accomplished writer of short fiction and an amateur stage artist. 

Dr. Anil Kumar has been a member of the board of the Oakland County Medical Society, member of the Michigan State Medical Society. He is the owner and CEO of the Kumar Surgery Center. He has been Chief of Staff at the North Oakland Medical Center, Chief of Surgery at Crittenton Hospital and is currently Chief of Staff at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. He previously had been part owner and chairman of the board at Doctor's Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Kumar is dedicated to public service and has been a candidate for Michigan's 11th District Congressional seat. His primary aim is reform of healthcare and education.

Lakshmi Vadlamudi is an Executive board member and the Secretary of the Hindu Community Relations Council. Lakshmi is an alumnus of Detroit Country Day, John Hopkins University, and is our lead media and press contact.

Suril Patel is a Technology Entrepreneur and Multi-Disciplinary Consultant, raised in Michigan, educated out-of-state, starting a career in California, before moving back to his home community. He serves as the Treasurer of the HCRC and overall IT director. Suril frequents many Hindu organizations, seeking an understanding of our diverse philosophies and global perspectives.

Padma Kuppa is the State representative of the 41st House District, Michigan, committed to serving Troy and Clawson by supporting shared values: Children's access to a quality public education, protecting the Great Lakes and to ensure access to clean safe and affordable drinking water, health care and prescription drugs to all Michiganders.

Rohit is an IT Lead and creative writer and is in charge of the website design. He is also a published author and an academic speaker in linguistics and poetics.

Harita completed her BS in neuroscience and her MPH in epidemiology at the University of Michigan in 2013 and 2018 respectively. Currently she works at The University of Michigan Medical School as a research specialist and epidemiologist on a clinical trial for diabetes prevention.

Lalitha Avutapalli has been Living in Troy for 20 years. She participates in local Interfaith events in Michigan. She is an engineer by profession.
